Community Impact
May 3, 2024A £1,500 donation went to Wirral-based charity, The Children’s Heart Association as part of the North West Community Fund scheme.
The contribution towards the charity has helped to provide bespoke hospital equipment, toiletries and consumables for parents, carers and children experiencing diagnosed heart problems.
Paul Willgoss, Trustee at the Children’s Hear Association, said: “We exist as a charity to help our members support each other through the good and the bad. With the help from organisations such as Barratt and David Wilson Homes, it makes a huge difference to what we can offer to families and the children we support.
“The Children’s Heart Association is here to help, and we’d like to encourage anyone who needs the help to reach out.”
The Children’s Heart Association opened its doors 50 years ago and provided a basic level of support for families and children, alleviating some of the stresses and challenges.
It offers an invaluable service for parents and families of children living with heart conditions. Run entirely by volunteers and parents who have had their own experiences with heart conditions, the team offer lived experience and provide a unique support system for new families and children.
Providing a range of activities and resources, The Children’s Heart Association supports the wellbeing of its beneficiaries with several events including trips to Chester Zoo, Apple Jacks Adventure Farm and an annual fancy dress walk. The charity is playing its part to ensure the improvement of conditions and quality of resources in the area.
Paul continued: “Without the kind donations from local businesses, we would not be able to provide these activities for our young people and their families.”
Claire Jarvis, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West, said: “The Children’s Heart Association is doing vital work in helping support children and young people with diagnosed heart problems throughout their journey and help parents and carers to learn vital skills to improve their wellbeing. We wish the charity the best of luck and we’re encouraging more people to support their local community where possible.”
