Project Support
July 27, 2011We recently awarded £250 to the Blacon Community Cyber Centre to help it to continue providing its services to local residents following funding cuts.
The Blacon Community Cyber Centre offers free computer and internet access seven days a week to members of its surrounding community, to enable them to communicate with their families across the globe. The centre also hosts a free ‘Children’s Homework Club’ which has been used by over 70 children in the region to enhance their education.
Our donation will help to support the day-to-day running of the centre as well as replace damaged IT equipment and furnishings.
Alan Tushingham, Treasurer of Blacon Community Cyber Centre, comments: “We were absolutely delighted when David Wilson Homes North West offered to contribute £250 towards the centre. As a voluntary organisation we are reliant on donations and have recently been informed of funding cuts, so were a little worried about the impact these would have on the running of the centre.
“The generous donation from David Wilson Homes North West will go a long way towards helping us to keep the centre open. We would like to offer a big thank you from all our team here and those who use the centre.”
Graham Swann, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North West, adds: “The Blacon Community Cyber Centre is of great value to its local community and offers a fantastic service, so we were thrilled to be able to offer our support. We wish the centre the best of luck and look forward to hearing about their progress in the future.”
