August 17, 2015A group of hardy competitors from Warrington-based David Wilson Homes North West who recently competed in the gruelling ‘Coniston Challenge’ – managed to win the event overall, raising over £2,000 for hospital charity Alder Hey Children’s Trust.
The Coniston Challenge is a ‘triathlon with a twist’ – a 10km Fell Climb up and down the Old Man of Coniston, 17km mountain bike ride and a 5km kayak across Coniston Lake. With 30 teams competing, the DWHNW team won 1st prize overall, alongside picking up 1st place for both the Hike and Bike events with an overall time of 3hrs 43min, a fantastic achievement with the challenge raising over £50,000 for the charity overall.
Commenting on DWH’s involvement, Land Buyer, Alexander Lee, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and thank everyone who supported us through their sponsorship.”
This money will go toward the new facility Alder Hey will be moving to shortly, a new state of the art facility designed to give young patients and their families the best possible experience whilst visiting.
