Community Impact, North West Community Fund
February 14, 2020The L21 Community Judo Club in Litherland, Liverpool, recently received a £1,500 donation from North West Community Fund.
Originally founded during the 1980s, the club registered as a charity in February 2017 with a view to giving local children the opportunity to form friendships, build their self-confidence and promote physical wellbeing through sport.
The £1,500 donation will help pay towards judo suits for the children, and cover the costs for community centre hire and training sessions.
Paul Benson, one of the L21 Community Judo Club’s organisers said: “As we are a charity, donations of all sizes help us and we are very grateful to David Wilson Homes for their £1,500 contribution. We look forward to putting the funding to good use and improving the lives of local children through sport.”
Andrew Taylor, Planning Director for David Wilson Homes North West, who presented the cheque to the club added: “We are a company that sees itself as a community builder. We are more than happy to help local organisations such as the L21 Community Judo Club thrive and promote the importance of healthy life choices such as exercise and forming friendships to its young members.
“Having grown up in Litherland myself, I know the difference that clubs like this can make to the local community, and I am delighted that we can help in this way.”
