Project Support
October 10, 2011We recently supported Manchester’s ALL FM community radio station to enable local people in the area to take to the air and learn a host of broadcasting skills.
ALL FM, which is based in Levenshulme, is made up of over 150 volunteers who give up their time to help broadcast, present, produce and perform as duty managers to keep the station running. All the volunteers have been trained by ALL FM as they broadcast to community by the community. For some it’s the beginning of a career in broadcast, for others it an opportunity to highlight issues affecting their community and its also provide an opportunity to play music of every variation.
Our support will enable ALL FM to provide local radio enthusiasts with comprehensive training in a selection of radio skills including technical and artistic techniques. Members are even given the chance to broadcast live on air to up to 14,000 listeners.
Ed Connole of ALL FM comments: “We were delighted to hear that the team at David Wilson Homes North West had chosen to support our radio station.
“We have unfortunately suffered revenue and funding cuts this year, so this has inevitably affected how much time we have to deliver radio training. The funding from David Wilson Homes North West means we can continue to provide our members with the vital training they need, so we’d like to thank the team for their generous donation.”
David Ince, North West Community Fund co-ordinator from David Wilson Homes North West, comments: “We are delighted to offer our support to ALL FM, as it does an excellent job of engaging the local community, as well as providing a fantastic training platform for those looking to establish a career in radio.
“We look forward to hearing the next broadcast from Manchester’s new and upcoming radio talk show hosts!”
