Pupils from St John’s Primary School in Liverpool, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Thornton-Cleveleys and Clayton-le-woods Primary in Chorley helped David Wilson Homes to mark Road Safety Week.
They all received a donation of hi-visibility vests and reflective snap bands from their neighbouring housing developments to ensure the safety of pupils walking to and from school.
Steve Jackson, sales director, commented: “We want to make sure that local school children are safe and visible in early mornings as well at night, as winter is fast approaching.
“By donating the hi-vis bands and vests to local schools, we hope to help ease parents’ and teachers’ minds when they are being escorted to and from school.”
Deputy Headteacher at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Damian Walsh, said: “We encourage as many children as possible to walk to school as part of developing a healthy lifestyle. Wearing high visibility jackets and reflective wrist bands enables our children to enjoy walking to school safely, particularly in these dark mornings.”
Road Safety Week is the UK’s biggest road safety event, co-ordinated annually by road safety charity Brake, which works to prevent road death and injury, make streets and communities safer, and runs from November 17 to November 23 2014.
