Liverpool resident, Callum Dickinson, is celebrating after becoming the first student apprentice in the region to graduate from our apprenticeship initiative run in partnership with the North Liverpool Regeneration Company and Liverpool City Council through the City’s Housing Market Renewal programme.
Callum successfully completed his Craft Diploma in Bricklaying after taking part in a five month work experience placement at our St John’s Place development in Kirkdale.
The scheme is designed to provide NVQ students with first-hand experience in a real-life working environment.
Callum Dickinson comments: “I’ve really enjoyed my time working with David Wilson Homes North West and have gained some valuable experience which will no doubt help to support my future career.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me during my training and for helping me to develop the skills I need to continue working in the construction industry.”
Graham Swann, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North West, comments: “We would like to offer our congratulations to Callum, he’s done a fantastic job and we are confident that he’ll be joining us on site again in the near future.
“At David Wilson Homes North West we are committed to investing in training for young people, and are delighted to welcome Alex Formby, an apprentice bricklayer to our St John’s Place development in Liverpool. We hope that Alex will successfully follow in Callum’s footsteps and not only gain valuable work experience, but also help to contribute to the regeneration of the area in which he lives.”
Nicola Kelly, project manager at North Liverpool Regeneration Company adds:
“It’s fantastic to see the first of our apprentices already completing the course, and we are confident that Callum will be the first of many. We look forward to continuing to work with David Wilson Homes North West and Liverpool City Council in helping to develop the skills of young people in the region.”
Liverpool City Council Leader, Joe Anderson, comments: “The City Council is committed to new apprenticeship opportunities being provided for young people in Liverpool.
