Community Impact
March 4, 2011Liverpool: Pupils from St John’s primary school and the Kirkdale Neighbourhood Community Centre in Liverpool, are being given the chance to make their mark on the city, thanks to David Wilson Homes North West.
The children have been given the important task of naming the roads and new park at our next phase in the the redevelopment of the area.
As part of the project, the pupils have been working with members of the Kirkdale Neighbourhood Centre, to research the history of the local area and use it as the inspiration for their suggestions.
Graham Swann, managing director at David Wilson Homes North West, explains: “At David Wilson Homes we strive to build communities not just houses, so what better way is there to join together the past, present and future communities of the area.
“We’re confident that the children will choose some fantastic names which really embrace the heritage of the region and we look forward to seeing their suggestions soon.”
Denise Maudsley, headteacher at St John’s Primary School, comments: “This is a great project for the children to get involved in. Not only does it help them to learn about the history of the area, but it also enables them to really play a part in the regeneration of the area in which they live and the creation of a new community.
“The children have already got stuck in and we’ve had a whole range of suggestions so far. We look forward to seeing the chosen names unveiled at the end of the project.”
