Community Impact

As part of our community outreach, we donated £1,500 to Springhill Hospice to help with its battle against rising costs and increased demand.
Springhill Hospice, based close our Silver Hill Manor development on Broad Lane, has been a cornerstone of the Rochdale community since opening its doors in 1989, following a campaign led by founder Margaret Geoghegan MBE.
Today, the hospice supports over 200,000 adults across Rochdale, Middleton, Heywood, and the surrounding communities through a wide range of services including inpatient care, hospice at home, bereavement counselling, and spiritual support.
Dawn Pierson, Trusts and Grants Fundraiser at Springhill Hospice, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to David Wilson Homes for its generous support. This funding will make a real difference in sustaining our services. As a charity, we rely on fundraising and grants to cover costs, and this support ensures we can continue to provide vital care, free of charge, to those facing the most challenging times.
“This grant arrives at a critical time for our hospice, as we continue to navigate rising costs and increasing demand for our services. The funds will directly support our commitment to providing outstanding, compassionate care to people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families.”
In the past year alone, the hospice provided care for 330 patients in its inpatient unit and made 3,635 home visits. Its staff members delivered 814 individual and 90 group bereavement support sessions, served over 7,600 meals, and harvested more than 100kg of fresh produce grown by volunteers. It also ran 124 education sessions, attended by over 1,000 people.
Jennifer Burns, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “We are proud to support the work of Springhill Hospice, which provides a range of incredible services for so many families in need of care and support during the most difficult times.
“This incredible charity is an integral part of the community and we hope this donation helps its dedicated, hard-working staff to continue their invaluable work.”
