Keeping the community equipped

Project Support

May 17, 2012 Keeping the community equipped

Staff and parishioners of St Peter’s Church in Elworth, Sandbach are full of praise after having received a donation of £1,500 from David Wilson Homes North West’s North West Community Fund community initiative.

The funding will allow the church to buy the materials necessary to furnish its newly-built hall, which will provide the local area with a safe and enjoyable place for community groups to meet.
The original hall at St Peter’s Church was tragically burnt down in a fire in February 2010, losing not only a great deal of history, but also a meeting point for several groups and organisations, including a local pre-school.
As part of a £1million project, a new hall was constructed, but since its official opening in March this year, has remained only partially furnished.
The contribution from David Wilson Homes North West, who are currently developing the former Foden Trucks site in Sandbach, will help St Peter’s Church to equip the hall with chairs and tables, in addition to a range of resources for use by the local pre-school alongside a variety of clubs and community groups.

Ian Cooper, Fundraising Committee Member at St Peter’s Church, comments: “We would all like to say a huge thank you to David Wilson Homes North West for their kind donation. Every penny is gratefully received and this contribution means a great deal to all of us here.

“The money will help us to equip the hall and ultimately provide a much-needed facility within the local community.”

Paul Thompson, David Wilson Homes North West North West Community Fund committee representative, adds: “We are always eager to support the communities in which we build and as an organisation which positively impacts on the lives of so many locals, we were delighted to be able to help such a worthy cause.

“The investment will play a crucial part in ensuring local groups and associations can get the most out of the hall’s facilities. We look forward to watching the church welcome in the local community and wish them the very best of success.”
