David Wilson Homes’ colleagues in the North West are celebrating fundraising success after the Warrington based team helped to raise more than £14,500 for completing the gruelling 136 miles Coast to Coast bike ride in a day. Proceeds will be donated to national cancer charity, Cancer Research.
The 13 strong team who cycled from Whitehaven to Newcastle, originally aimed to raise a minimum of £10,000, so the team, led by development director Jason Corner, is thrilled to have beaten the target – with contributions still pouring in.
Jason Corner, David Wilson Homes development director said: “We’re proud to be supporting Cancer Research this year and even though some of us are very sore, we thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and hope colleagues and customers will support us in our efforts.
“We have a range of activities planned this year, we are going to do as much as we can and we’d love to hear from anyone who wants to join in and help.”
Colleagues are going to raise the money throughout 2015 as part of a partnership between David Wilson Homes North West and Cancer Research UK, the leading charity dedicated to beating cancer, after the charity was named David Wilson Homes North West’s Charity of the Year for 2015.
Cancer Research funds research into more than 200 types of cancer across the UK, saving millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and survival has doubled in the past 40 years.
