Project Support
December 18, 2012The festivities in Higher Kinnerton are in full swing thanks to the North West Community Fund scheme which has seen the village lit up in time for Christmas.
Following a successful application to the developer, which is currently building at the Babylon Field development on Main Road, Higher Kinnerton Community Council received £500 to put towards installing new Christmas lights for local residents to enjoy.
The funding has also been used to renovate the flood lights at the nearby All Saints Church to help improve its safety and security. Funding was received from the North West Community Fund scheme, which helps community groups with either volunteer time or funding.
Liz Corner, clerk of Higher Kinnerton Community Council, said: “The Community Council is committed to enhancing the village which is why Councillors decided to put the funding towards the purchase of Christmas illuminations and the renovations at the church, both of which they feel will really benefit residents as well bring bringing some Christmas cheer to the village!
“The Community Council is very grateful to David Wilson Homes North West for the support received and consider the North West Community Fund scheme to be a positive way to support community projects and would encourage other local groups to make the most of the help on hand.”
David Ince, North West Community Fund project coordinator at David Wilson Homes North West, added: “We are delighted at the difference the North West Community Fund funding has made to the village and hope the Christmas lights will be enjoyed by residents for many years to come. David Wilson Homes has developed a successful partnership with Higher Kinnerton Community Council and we look forward to continuing to work together to support the local community.”
Higher Kinnerton Community Council is responsible for many of the services provided in the community with nine members who dedicate their time voluntarily.
North West Community Fund is open to community groups across the North West, the only condition is that the support is used for something that will genuinely enhance or improve a service, facilities or the environment within the local area.
