Employees at David Wilson Homes North West cycled, kayaked, swam and trekked to charity success, raising an incredible £33,429.35 for Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
To provide some festive fun for the children and young people using the hospital over Christmas, the team also collected toys and games for the use of patients and visitors alike.
The 30 intrepid employees, who took part in four gruelling fitness challenges to raise funds needed by the hospital to carry out it’s vital work, embarked on a serious training regime prior to undertaking the fundraising.
Colleagues from Warrington-based David Wilson Homes North West took part in the Manchester 10km run, the Manchester one mile open water swim, the 100 mile Liverpool sportive bike ride and the Coniston Challenge, a one day extreme kayak, trek and cycle challenge.
Event organiser, Jason Corner, development director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “The team love a challenge, and these challenges were a real commitment from all of us throughout 2016. Knowing that we were raising money for Alder Hey Children’s Charity spurred us on as we took part in some of the region’s most grueling runs and races.
“We wanted to raise as much money as possible for the Liverpool based charity, which does amazing work throughout the North West and we’re thrilled to have smashed our initial target of £20,000.
“Finally we hope that the toys and games we collected will spread some festive cheer and provide a welcome distraction for patients and visitors using the hospital over the Christmas holidays.”
David Wilson Homes North West offers a wide range of homes at developments across the region, from modern one bedroom apartments through to luxury five bedroom family homes.
