We reinforced our commitment to community well-being with a £1,500 donation to sight loss charity Guide Dogs through our Community Fund scheme.

Guide Dogs is renowned for its life-changing work in giving support and companionship to individuals with visual impairments, and the contribution went towards the training, care, and support of guide dogs, enabling them to transform the lives of those with sight loss.
Tracey Digby, Community Fundraising Relationship Manager at Guide Dogs, said: “We want to say a big thank you to David Wilson Homes for supporting Guide Dogs. Every day, 250 more people join the two million already living with sight loss, and this number is set to double by 2050. As a charity, we rely almost entirely on public donations to keep our vital services for people with sight loss running.”
Further to the donation, we hosted a ‘dinner in the dark’ event at our Kings Park development in Macclesfield to help raise awareness of Guide Dogs.
The event was attended by the town’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Emma Gilman, who joined us to celebrate the work of the national sight loss charity.
Guests were encouraged to enjoy a three-course lunch whilst wearing a blindfold or glasses, which represent different eye conditions, to raise awareness of those living with a visual impairment. In attendance from Guide Dogs were Tracey Digby and Pat Powell, who is visually impaired and brought her guide dog, Gweny, to the event.
