Leading housebuilder David Wilson Homes North West has donated £500 to help fund local Half Marathon.
Members of the Congleton Race Committee, Michelle Stevens and Phil Dawson, with Black Firs Park Sales Adviser, Sally Barton.
The Congleton Half Marathon is due to take place on 6th October 2019, starting at the High School on Box Lane in Congleton.
The Congleton Harriers took over the event in 2011 and have been running it ever since. Established over 30 years ago, the race attracts over 400 runners per year.
Every year, three charities are selected to fundraise for. This year the organisations are: Visyon, Friends for Leisure and the North West Air Ambulance. All proceeds will be shared out equally among the chosen charities.
In order to garner as much fundraising and support as possible, the event relies heavily on the aid and assistance of the council and local businesses.
Phil Dawson, part of the Congleton Half Marathon Race Committee, said, “One of my roles is to secure sponsorship to cover our many costs which is becoming increasingly difficult, so when David Wilson Homes generously agreed to support us for a second year it was very welcome news.”
Lynton Dudgeon, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes North West, said, “We’re really pleased we could help the Congleton Harriers in putting on their annual Half Marathon.
“The race raises money for some fantastic causes and we’re delighted that our donation can help make sure the chosen charities will receive as much support as possible from the event.
“We like to stay active in the communities in which we build homes and this race has been part of Congleton for the last 36 years, so we couldn’t think of a better opportunity to get involved with the area!”
