December 17, 2015Staff at David Wilson Homes (DWH) in Warrington have been busy collecting Christmas presents for Wire FM’s Christmas Toy Appeal, which will see gifts handed out to less fortunate children in Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn.
The scheme calls on people to buy one extra gift this Christmas, which will go to youngsters who might otherwise receive nothing.
With an original target of 250 children’s gifts, DWH staff smashed the challenge with an incredible 350 donated; when Wire FM’s car turned up to collect the gifts, its branded vehicle was too tiny to accommodate the sheer volume of gifts – prompting an emergency van hire to complete the job!
Jacquelyn Colquhoun, Assistant Architectural Technician who has been organising the collection, said: ‘Colleagues here at DWH have really got behind this Appeal and have been incredibly generous.
“On the day of the collection, I counted up 350 gifts, so it’s obviously really struck a chord with colleagues.”
Andrew Taylor, DWH Planning Director and head of its employee Engagement Committee, said: Each year we try to get staff involved in local charitable initiatives, not just at Christmas time, but throughout the year.
“It’s a privilege to see how committed everyone is to making a difference and getting stuck into initiatives such as this. As well as helping good causes, it genuinely gives colleagues a boost and a sense of achievement which is priceless.”
