We have donated £1,500 to the Chorley Community First Responders (CFR) to aid the cost of a new defibrillator in one of its emergency vehicles.
The responders are trained by the North West Ambulance service to attend to calls regarding chest pain, breathing difficulties, cardiac arrest, unconsciousness, fitting, arrest of haemorrhage, diabetic emergencies and falls, where they could be required to perform CPR or even use a defibrillator.
The new defibrillator provided purchased with the OSYP donation allows the community group to have more responders available, more of the time. Without this vital equipment, responders have to share, resulting in less time being available to tend to emergencies.
Deryck Whitehead, Treasurer at Chorley CFRs, said: “Our team would like to thank David Wilson Homes for its generosity and kind donation which the team will greatly benefit from.
“With new equipment now available, our responders will have more time to spend within the community, as well as residents who will benefit from having more first responders available in their time of need.”
