Project Support
February 11, 2026
We pledged £1,500 to LATH Group (Looking After The Homeless), a charity which cares for homeless and vulnerable people in Crewe and Nantwich.
Our contribution was used to provide short-term physical support for LATH Group’s clients with hot drinks, hot food and clothes.
Staffed entirely by volunteers, the charity provides short-term support with food, clothes, tents and sleeping bags. It also directs people to other charities or council departments for the next steps and offers emotional support to its clients to show that someone does care and that they are valued, whatever the cause of their situation.
Mick Tobin, Chairman at LATH Group, said: “I see LATH as the final backstop to state aid, the port of call for a last resort. Without LATH, our clients would spend longer on the streets sleeping rough.
“We work proactively with councillors and the council to ensure there are no homeless people in Crewe, even if that means a tent and sleeping bag. We constantly seek out homeless people to ensure they find somewhere safe, weatherproof and secure to sleep.
“Once housed, we work with our clients to move them on to the next level, and each client is supported long-term with patience and perseverance.”
LATH Group receives donations of food and clothes, however the food donated is usually sandwiches and cakes, rather than hot food which the charity provides at every drop-in. Donated clothes are sometimes impractical, such as large sizes and fashion items, which results in clothes being a major expense for LATH. Clean underwear, socks and jeans are most appreciated by the charity’s beneficiaries.
Mick added: “Local charities are vital in society today, supporting so many areas of the community, particularly those who are vulnerable and affected by poverty. This makes donations, such as the one from David Wilson Homes, absolutely vital for the community and welfare of so many disadvantaged individuals.”
Claire Jarvis, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “We are proud to have been able to support LATH Group, which offers an incredibly important service to many people in Crewe and Nantwich.
“Due to rising costs, more and more people are feeling the strain on their finances and either risk experiencing homelessness, or currently face it, so it is vital to be able to offer support to the charities dedicated to battling this ongoing issue.”
