Chapelford barbecue

We recently joined forces with local organisations, On the Move North West and Warrington West Churches, to host a three-day fun-filled family barbecue at our Chapelford Urban Village development.

The barbecue was organised by On the Move North West with 90 volunteers from eight of the churches in Warrington West. The aim was to bring members of the local community together and we saw over 1,000 people come along to enjoy free sausages, burgers, veggie burgers and music.

Through North West Community Fund, we were able to donate £600 towards the cost of the event and to help ensure a good time was had by all.

Paul Hockley, vicar of St Paul’s, Penketh and leader of On the Move North West, comments: “Our barbecues are a fantastic way to get all of the community together and for the Christian church to model the sort of community we all long for.

“As a voluntary organisation it can be difficult to secure funding for events such as these, so we were thrilled when David Wilson Homes North West offered to support the event.

“All nations and all ages from many of the 1,800 homes came along and had a brilliant time; we are pleased to say the event was a huge success.”
