Project Support
March 25, 2013Support is available for community groups across the region as the latest round of David Wilson Homes’ community initiative, North West Community Fund, opens for applications.
The most recent group to receive support is Claire House, a hospice in Bebington, Wirral, providing respite, palliative and end of life care for children and young adults with complex medical conditions.
Giorgia Pizzuto, Trust Fundraiser at Claire House, explains: “We are absolutely delighted to have received funding of £1500 through David Wilson Homes North West’s North West Community Fund initiate. This money will contribute significantly to the annual cost of care at the hospice.
“Before we received the funding, a team from David Wilson Homes North West took a tour of our facilities so they could learn about Claire House and clearly understand the importance of funding to us. As a voluntary organisation with limited statutory funding, we are almost entirely reliant upon voluntary donations to fund our £2.5 million annual running costs.”
Graham Swann, managing director at David Wilson Homes North West, explains: “The North West Community Fund scheme is not simply about writing a cheque – it is about reviewing applications in detail, understanding an individual group’s requirements and achieving the maximum benefits which reach as many people as possible.
“The initiative offers both funding and physical assistance with a project, as organisations can also apply for resource in the form of volunteers from our team. Staff and suppliers have been incredibly generous with their time already and are keen to continue offering a helping hand to groups across the region.
“We are delighted at the difference North West Community Fund has already made but there is still more to be done and we encourage any organisations that are looking for support to get in touch now.”
