Bringing Stapeley into bloom

Project Support

December 17, 2015 Bringing Stapeley into bloom

A local Parish Action Group, in Stapeley, is celebrating after receiving a donation from David Wilson Homes North West’s North West Community Fund scheme.

The housebuilder’s scheme, which offers support to community groups in the region through volunteer time or funding, provided more than 3,000 daffodil, crocus and bluebell bulbs to help bring the local area into bloom. The team from North West Community Fund also went down on the day to lend a hand and help plant the bulbs ready for spring.

Stapeley Parish Action Group implements projects and supports Parish Council initiatives involving the local community. It enabled the installation of the popular Children’s Playground on land adjacent to Pear Tree School, Stapeley and also runs Litter Pick Groups, participates in Speedwatch monitoring and acts as a liaison and focus group between the community and local Councils.

Andy Taylor, North West Community Fund Project Coordinator at David Wilson Homes North West, comments: “At David Wilson Homes, we are dedicated to building strong communities in areas surrounding our developments. Stapeley Parish Action Group is vital to the local community, so we are delighted to be helping this inspiring team.”

Sue Sherwood, secretary of Stapeley Parish Action Group, adds: “We’re really pleased that David Wilson Homes supported our local bulb planting project in Stapeley and Batherton Parish by donating the bulbs for Stapeley Gardens and we’re really looking forward to Spring when they come into bloom and the whole area becomes really colourful.”

David Wilson Homes North West’s North West Community Fund scheme helps community groups with donations of volunteer time and funding. The latest round of applications is now open, and local organisations and projects in need of support can apply by visiting www.ourspaceyourplace.co.uk.
