Community Impact
May 3, 2024We donated £3,000 to the services of the North West Air Ambulance Charity.
The contribution has gone towards the charity’s essential missions to ensure those in need in the region can have access to urgent medical assistance and help bring the hospital to the patient.
Since launching in 1999, the North West Air Ambulance Charity, based in Knowsley, has been called to over 31,000 missions across the region. Each year, the charity must raise £12 million to remain operational, and receives no government funding and is not part of the NHS.
Chris Andrews, Corporate Partnership Officer at the North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “This kind donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes will help us continue our lifesaving work across the North West.
“We are entirely reliant on charitable donations to stay operational. For example, part of this donation could pay for a video laryngoscope, allowing our doctors and HEMS paramedics to better manage a patient’s airway.
“Last year, we were called to 2,800 life-threatening incidents across the North West. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are able to continue flying to save lives. The North West Air Ambulance Charity will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2024 and we would love to invite people to get involved.”
The North West Air Ambulance Charity’s helicopters and critical care vehicles operate 365 days a year. Its highly-skilled specialist doctors and critical care paramedics provide enhanced pre-hospital care to patients across the entire region each year – an area covering 5,500 square miles and over eight million people.
Claire Jarvis, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West, said: “It is vital we help to keep the helicopters in the sky, and ensure that emergency response teams can continue to make a huge difference in the community by protecting and the saving lives of local people.”
